Model N-709: 2/3 Phase Changer
Capacity: 1-20 HP
Type: 2/3 PHASE CHANGER
Category: Motor Automatic Switch
Description
Features
If you can find a two-phase power source to connect it to, the motor will try to run with 2/3 rds of its windings. If the mechanical load it is connected to need only 2/3 rds of the rating of the motor, it may actually be able to run it successfully. Note however, that two phase power (e.g. 90 degree phase angle) is not something easily acquired. To my knowledge, there is no generator I’ve ever heard of which produces two phase power, and it cannot easily be gotten from three phase (120 degree phase angle) power.
